Key Outcomes:
Created a full holistic context.
Designed profit-first plans for 4 enterprises.
Enabled long-term decision-making tied to farm values.
The Context
North Aston Farms is a pioneering 900-acre organic farm run by the Taylor family.
Despite decades of organic stewardship and a range of enterprises (pasture-fed dairy, beef, sheep, arable) they knew they had strong values - they just needed a structure to guide action.
They felt a need for:
Greater clarity on short, medium, and long-term goals
A unified framework for making farm decisions
A deeper understanding of enterprise profitability
The Work
We began with a 3-day Holistic Context session involving the farm’s key decision-makers: Jeremy, James, and Vicky.
Together, we crafted:
A Statement of Purpose
A Quality of Life vision
A Future Resource Base (seven generations forward)
From there, we tested real decisions against their Context and moved into numbers - exploring the true financial performance of each enterprise.
Over follow-up sessions, we created:
Enterprise-level profit clarity
Scenario-based decision tools
A forward plan for herd growth, beef sales, and recruitment
The Outcome
Clear enterprise roadmaps for all four farm units
A confident shift toward increased direct beef sales
Realignment of family decision-making around shared purpose
Active use of Holistic Management in ongoing operations
What this project shows
Regenerative transitions begin with alignment - of purpose, people, and planning. Holistic Management gives farm families the structure to stop firefighting and start moving with clarity.
“Very good facilitator bringing his own experience of running a business and understanding the complexities that entails – very helpful!”
James Taylor, North Aston Farms
